eNews Update - June 2023

Dear Friends of Resilient Ready,

It was great to reconnect with many friends last week at the Victorian Emergency Management Institute (VEMI) where we ran a Masterclass and Community Showcase with Professor Daniel P. Aldrich.

This multi-event collaboration with our colleagues from Emergency Management Victoria (EMV) confirmed the opportunity - and need - for a greater emphasis on social capital and social infrastructure across Victoria. Congratulations to our Stakeholder Engagement Lead Suzy Canadi for presenting on our projects being delivered in Phillip Island and the Great Ocean Road.

A big thank you also to the EMV Commissioner Andrew Crisp, and EMV Deputy Commissioner Capability & Risk Amanda Leck for their thought leadership in running these events with us. The takeaways were many, and it was great to hear Daniel's reflections on the work being undertaken in Australia.

We've also been busy travelling and presenting workshops across northern NSW for our Future Ready Young Farmers and Fishers projects, being delivered for the Young Farmers Business Program run through the Department of Primary Industries in NSW. We had the pleasure of collaborating with GLENRAC Inc's Kylie Falconer and her team who are the local experts in the Glen Innes community. To us that's what it's all about, bringing our expertise and micro-learning approach in a collaborative way to those already delivering positive outcomes in the community.

And after two years of working with the local business community, we wrapped our Blue Mountains Business Community Resilience Project in NSW. It was a busy time for the team, and a productive one, yielding two insightful white papers that will help inform Business Blue Mountains as it moves forward from a project to an established regional business network, voice and advocate for its local business community. A big congratulations to the new Business Blue Mountains board and thank you to our amazing team member Rebecca Lang!

Are you interested in hearing how we can help your organisation or community plan and prepare for future disasters and disruptions? It only takes a minute to book a discovery call. Let's talk!
